Every year, the
VMRO-Youth Organization carries out a hike throughout Pirin which ends at the St.Elia chapel, where the grave of Todor Alexandrov is. Due to the mass participation in the hike and the limited capacity of the mountain hostels, usually it is necessasry to have several routes. The meeting point of all the groups is the Pirin hostel, which was originally built by the Organization as a south-bound outlet base from Pirin. On the next day, the route passes through the village of Rozhen, where one can visit the Rozhen monastery. Afterwards, the road descends to Melnik, the place where evrybody can have a rest after the days of intense trekking, taste some genuine Melnik wine and take a walk around the nearby sand pyramids. On the very last day of the hike, the St.Elia chapel is visited where the commemoration of the
vojvoda's murder takes place.

ROUTE 2000
Leaving the Pirin hostel, the route follows the marked path towards Melnik. It reaches a cattle barnhouse surrounded by a wooden fence and a wagon next to it. Westward from the fence, on an unmarked, yet well outlined, path, one goes down, without deviersions, to the junction of the left and right rivers. This is the place where Todor Alexandrov and Panzo Zafirov were killed in 1924. It is a secluded forest meadow which has some kind of buliding on it that was left by cattle tenders. Following the river down from the place of death, one reaches an unpave road and a sign, poitnitng at the St.Eliah chapel direction, which is within 10 minutes of wlak from there. From the St.Eliah chapel, the road towards the village of Rozhen, and Melnik respectively, are marked with permanent tourist signs. Thus the following route is sheped: the Pirin hostel - left river - the place of murder - Todor Alexandrov's grave - Melnik.
